This little pittie girl's name is Karuna. Karuna means *compassion*.
We have named her this because, obviously, she has NOT been shown any compassion for a very long time. She was turned into Ponca Animal Control on the 8/2/10, where she stood uncomfortable for 3 days until she was able to leave. At this point, she should have been put to sleep. The good thing....she would have no longer suffered. The bad thing...she could have left this earth feeling unloved and like nobody cared while she itched, scratch, and licked at all the places on her body that hurt. Sure, she had been able to lay on the hot cement of the kennel but we are sure she never slept comfortably. Today, she was pulled from our Animal Control and we took her immediately to our vet. She loved the attention. Had anyone ever spoken to her like she mattered before?
Karuna has demodectic mange and is very malnutritioned but she is so sweet, you would never think she was hurting until you hear that little whimper when she moves. She now will feel relief since she is on Rimadyl ( a pain killer) She has adema which is being treated with Lasix. She is covered with infections so she has been started on antibiotics. The mange will also be treated very soon. We are make sure this little girl gets as much compassion as possible and teach her that the world can be a kind place and that people really do care about her.
