Welcome to PAWFirst!

ADOPTING A FRIEND

We require an adoption application be filled out and approved.  Our adoption application helps us to get to know your needs and wants in an animal companion, and helps us to make sure each animal finds the best home possible.  Every animal's temperament is different, so the more information we share, the better placement we can make for you and our animals.  We also do a vet check to ensure the best possible placement that will last a lifetime.  All applications must be filled out completely to be considered.  We do not ship our animals and must meet the adopter.  We require that you live within driving distance of Ponca City to adopt one of our foster pets.

We reserve the right to refuse a potential adopter at any time for any reason.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please email us at trisha@pawfirst.com OR grace@pawfirst.com.

We strive to make FOREVER placements and the best matches for our animals AND the families searching for a lifetime companion.  Unless otherwise noted, all pets are to be kept as indoor pets.

ADOPTION FEES

Adoption fees can vary. Animals may require different medical treatment. Every now and then, a pet will be listed as a VIP. This means that they are in high demand for adoption and will quickly find a loving home. Because of this, they will leave a financial legacy for the other animals in our care who may need expensive medical care or more time to find a loving home.

OUR POLICIES

First, an application must be filled out completely and approved.  Since we are a group of foster homes and do not have a facility, we make appointments for meeting with prospective adopters. Please understand that this is a GROUP policy..not individual. We have to do this in

When pets are too young for spay/neuter, there is a refundable deposit that is required by the State of Oklahoma.  After the pet is altered, send a copy of the vet receipt and we will mail the deposit to you. It is rare that we do adoptions like that since we do believe in early age spaying/neutering. We have done alot of research on this topic. This is one example:

The American Veterinary Medical Association issued a policy on Early-Age (Prepubertal) Spay/Neuter of Dogs and Cats in 1994.. It was revised by the AVMA Executive Board April 1999 and April 2004 and now reads as follows:

The AVMA supports the concept of early (prepubertal, 8 to 16 weeks of age) spay/neuter in dogs and cats in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals of these species. Just as for other veterinary medical and surgical procedures, veterinarians should use their best medical judgment in deciding at what age spay/neuter should be performed on individual animals.

If you are approved but are unable to pick up your new pet for more than a couple of days, you will have to pay a nonrefundable deposit of half the adoption fee.  When you pick up the pet, that will be applied to the adoption fee.  IF you do not show up at the specified date, the deposit will be kept and the pet adopted to the next approved applicant.

When paying an adoption fee, hold deposit, or spay/neuter deposit, please have cash, money order or use PayPal.  You do not need an account with PayPal to pay that way, we can send a request for money.  If you would like to set it up yourself..Send to: Admin@pawfirst.com
